Cloth Stump Doll
A beautiful vintage old Black Stump Doll in very good condition, seems to be Amish in her original outfit. It is a medium golden brown, not as gold as it looks in my photos. There is no face to our sweet little girl cloth doll, she was named Gerlein after an old friend met on summer vacation. She measures about 10 inches tall to the base of her bottom and 12” to bottom of dress, she is a stump doll and was made without legs.
She is “mommie made” years ago, a family doll hand sewn and machine stitched made with black cotton? stocking/sock material likely in the 30s or 40s. Her one piece body is unjointed and softly stuffed maybe with cotton or lightweight fill of some sort. She has exudes a lot of character though no features, she’s full of fun & made for play.
Gerlein wears her original cotton 2pc. outfit Amish dress with matching pinafore treadle sewn with button closure and looks to be hand sewn buttonholes. She has some slight fading and only a little shelf dust.
